Headwear Import

This section describes the import-from-file functionality. It is important to ensure this is done in an efficient order:

  1. Ensure all headwear IDs are imported first, such that they are available for auto-assignment when importing operators
  2. Ensure all crews are created (CONFIG > CREWS > “+ NEW CREW”), such that they are available for auto-assignment when importing operators
  3. Ensure all operators are imported, such that they exist in the system when importing their fatigue data.



The headwear ID can be entered into LifeHub when; an operator starts using the headwear on a SmartCap system that is connected to LifeHub, a user imports data containing (new) headwear IDs, or when an Administrator imports headwear IDs from a file.

To import headwear IDs from a file go to IMPORT > “Headwear” or alternatively get there by going to CONFIG > HEADWEAR > “+ IMPORT HEADWEAR”.

The format for the headwear import is a single column file containing the long sensor ID. This is a number starting with 20. It is NOT the headwear label (Starting in 00).  SmartCap will provide you with this file with each shipment of headwear.

The imported headwear IDs can be viewed by navigating to CONFIG > “Headwear”




All file import features have the option to be run in ‘Safe Mode’. In ‘Safe Mode’ all data is processed as per normal, except the changes will not be submitted to the Fatigue Manager database.

Once data is imported it cannot be undone. This makes ‘Safe Mode’ particularly useful when checking if the steps listed above have been skipped, meaning that a substantial amount of manual assignment and configuration would be needed. As such, ‘Safe Mode’ allows you to identify any major issues prior to the permanent data import.

NOTE: using ‘Safe Mode’ will make the data import process slower, however provides the above benefits.
