SmartCap Display: ADVANCED CONFIG

Access to the advanced configuration settings requires a PIN. These are not settings that all users should have access to.

The advanced config menu has a submenu with five items: NAME, TIME/DATE, SERVER, Missing Card Notification and COM Speed.

SETTING THE NAME

The name of a display is typically set to its serial number. Sometimes the vehicle name is used. The display name has a maximum of 5 characters:  [0-9, A-Z , _]. The default value is an underscore: _

NOTE: Any leading and trailing underscores will be ignored, e.g. “T_51_” is stored as “T_51”.

To set the name of a display:

  1. Go to MENU > ADVANCED > Enter [PIN] > CONFIG > NAME
  2. Tap the character you would like to change. Its colour will change to yellow.
  3. Use the arrows on the bottom of the screen to change character.
  4. Do this for every character
  5. Once all characters are set to the right value, press SET to confirm and save the new name
  6. Leave the menu by pressing BACK > BACK > BACK

SETTING COMMUNICATION WITH THE SERVER ON/OFF

Systems that are not connected to a Fatigue Manager Server should have the back to base communication set to “OFF”, for improved performance and user experience. This is typically the case for SmartCap Portable Systems.

To turn back to base communication OFF:

  1. Go to MENU > ADVANCED > Enter [PIN] > CONFIG > SERVER
  2. When tapping the button it will toggle ON/OFF. Tap it such that it reads “SERVER: OFF” and leave the menu by pressing BACK > BACK > BACK > BACK

To turn back to base communication ON:

  1. Go to MENU > ADVANCED > Enter [PIN] > CONFIG > SERVER
  2. When tapping the button it will toggle ON/OFF. Tap it such that it reads “SERVER: ON” and leave the menu by pressing BACK > BACK > BACK > BACK

NOTE: When a system is set to “Server: OFF”, but is connected to a Fatigue Manager Server, the system will not communicate with the server.
