Understanding user roles

Fatigue Manager allows for multiple users to login to the website. Each user has its own username, profile and password. When it comes to permissions, not all users are the same! What each user can add, delete, see or edit within Fatigue Manager depends on their user role

Four user roles are configured, each with a unique set of permissions. The four user roles are:

Control Room Typically used by a small number of users in a dispatch type role. The primary function of the control room user role is the acknowledgement of Fatigue Manager alarms.
Supervisor This role focuses on the information available in Fatigue Manager, rather than configuration of Fatigue Manager. The Supervisor role is designed for workforce managers or safety supervisors that require access to fatigue information and reports.
Maintenance As the name suggests, this role is aimed at those in an equipment installation and maintenance role. The permissions focus on the ability to configure equipment in Fatigue Manager, without access to private fatigue information of individuals.
Admin This role has access to all areas of Fatigue Manager, and is typically reserved for a small number of project-level, responsible individuals.

The table below provides the specifics for each user role, for which V, A, E & D are used to indicate view, add, edit and delete respectively. Three items that may require some clarity are:

  1. Fleet Overview – for privacy reasons not all user roles are allowed to see Fatigue Levels on the Fleet Overview screen.
  2. Acknowledge alarms – acknowledging alarms often requires contact with the operator and/or additional information to be recorded. Admin and Supervisors do not always have access to either.
  3. Edit user profile – Control Room users often use a shared account and are therefore not allowed to edit their own user profile. Administrators are allowed to change the profiles of the other user.
