ARPANSA Radiation Protection Standard No. 3

The Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA) is the Australian Government's primary authority on radiation protection and nuclear safety. ARPANSA regulates Commonwealth entities using radiation with the objective of protecting people and the environment from the harmful effect of radiation.

ARPANSA's Radiation Protection Standard No. 3 contains mandatory limits of human exposure to radiofrequency (RF) fields in the frequency range 3 kHz to 300 GHz. These must be applied in association with specified risk management practices. The basic restrictions are fundamental limits designed to ensure that known adverse health effects do not arise from exposure to RF fields.
